DOPE!!! Jim Jarmusch's "Paterson"

There’s a reason why Jim Jarmusch is one of my favorite directors EVER! He knows how to tell a story. Plain and simple. His films aren’t like other cinematic tales of triumph and woe. The characters in his movies are always funky, eccentric, and unapologetically human. “Paterson” provided a landscape where life was the focal point and the details that we may not take as seriously took precedence throughout the film. Adam Driver plays Paterson, a bus driver and secret poet that lives in Paterson, New Jersey with his wife, Laura, a vivid woman of dreams that constantly tries to push her limits. Though they may appear to complete opposites, they love each other unconditionally. While watching this movie in the Ritz Bourse theater downtown, I said to myself, “Damn, I hope that I find a love like that for myself!” What’s also pretty cool is how Jim Jarmusch turned the city of Paterson into a living breathing component of the film as well. You could feel the city’s breath in each scene. I loved this movie!

AND… I won’t spoil it but the cameo appearance surprised the hell out of me
